Abstract

At the present time, companies are inserted in a globalized, complex, and highly competitive environment, with increasingly demanding consumers, ever smaller product cycles, and rapid technological evolution. In this scenario, competition no longer occurs between local organizations, but between global supply chains. The objective of this research was to analyze the theory of cooperation networks in the supply chain of the Multimodal Logistics Platform of the Central West (PLMCO) from the perspective of five focal companies of American, Brazilian, Chinese, Korean and Japanese nationality with their local suppliers. For the accomplishment of the research, we used research of quantitative nature and single case study. The initial approach was carried out by sending e-mail to the managers inviting them to participate in the research; on-site visit for explanation and purpose of the research; data collection through an electronic questionnaire; and, sending the data obtained to the participating companies. In the data analysis, multivariate analysis and descriptive statistics techniques were used, as well as Network Theory measurements and metrics. The results show that the integration between the focal companies and their local suppliers is low, with few local strategic suppliers in PLMCO. In addition, the relationships identified are in the less involved stage, proving that the supply chain characteristic is more transactional (price-only) than relational (based on long-term partnership networks).   Keywords: Cooperation Networks. Supply Chain Management. Multimodal Logistics Platform.
