Abstract

Android operating system adjusts its screen view orientation based on the angle to the gravity of the device. This function has kept similar behavior without large modification for a decade. We think that this implementation has room for improvement. For example, this implementation is too pessimistic for some users and makes a user wait for a while for its screen's view rotation after the device rotation. In this paper, we propose a method for quickly adjusting screen orientation. The proposed method predicts the angle of the device in the near future from the recently measured acceleration.
