Mode selective high power measurements on a 28 GHz gyrotron

Abstract

The TEom mode composition of a Varian 28 GHz pulse gyrotron was measured with mode selective directional couplers. Of special interest are also the mostly neglected asymmetric modes and their changes of polarization with modified operational parameters of the gyrotron; these measurements were perfomed by a four-hole cross coupler.
