A single diode approach is widely preferred for half-wave rectifying devices for rectennas because of its low loss and cost. However, this approach uses only half of the intercepted wave, unlike a full-wave bridge rectifier. On the other hand, a bridge rectifier is more lossy and expensive. This paper discusses the design of a novel dual port patch antenna, which is capable of full wave rectification with a circuit employing two diodes connected to its anti-phase electromagnetically coupled feeds.
