The role of armenians in the battles for the liberation of Ukraine

Abstract

The unbending will of the Armenians and their age-old experience of struggle against foreign invaders were clearly manifested during the years of the Great Patriotic War. The rifle corps of the Hero of the Soviet Union, General Sargis Martirosyan, was the first to enter Kyiv, in connection with which the General, according to the ancient Russian custom, was appointed commandant of Kyiv. He also became “Honorary Citizen” of Prague for its liberation. The Armenians who fought on the fronts of the war for the liberation of Ukraine, made their worthy contribution to the victory over fascism.
