Smart Mall to Reduce Crowds During the COVID-19 Pandemic

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way people live throughout the world. One way to spread the COVID-19 virus is through crowds that can be found in shopping centres, such as malls. Mall control during the pandemic is very difficult if you do not use information technology because it can cause crowds. This study proposes to build a smart mall model that is able to overcome the crowd. A Smart Mall consists of 3 features: smart booking, smart tracking, and smart payments. The booking feature provides booking services to visitors before coming to the mall, which is to ensure the existence of the mall according to its capacity. The tracking feature provides monitoring of the presence of mall visitors to provide directions and monitor visitors within the given time limit, and the payments feature provides a non-cash payment method to create a sense of security from cash transactions.
