An Analysis of Wargame Rules Simulation Based on Stochastic Lanchester Models

Abstract

Since Lanchester equations were proposed, scholars and engineers have developed many extended Lanchester equations. Due to the complexity of warfare, most of them can't be used in practice. This paper takes a simple scenario and focuses on the basic battle process of red and blue forces. By deterministic, difference and stochastic Lanchester models, the attrition process and combat results are simulated and analyzed. On this base, combat result table(CRT) of wargame theory is designed, and method of how to apply the stochastic models to CRT designing is developed. It can provide accordance and reference for the design of wargame rules, and can provide theoretical guidance for the research of wargame systems.
