Abstract
Object or record identifiers have been identified as one of the key requirements for advanced database management systems. In interoperable database systems, differing definitions of object/record identifications may all appear at the same time. Several object identification problems need to be addressed. The authors concentrate on raising the issues involved in the problem of object identification in object-oriented interoperable database systems, where such a database may actually just be a layer (import schema) on top of a hierarchical, network or relational database.<>
