The Spanish Pension System: A Brief Policy Report

Abstract

In this short policy paper, I describe the main institutional characteristics of the Spanish pension system, and I analyze its financial sustainability, adequacy and future prospects. Then, I propose a reform strategy to ensure the fi nancial sustainability of the system while minimizing the social costs of the reforms.
