Abstract

The distributed feedback (DFB) lasers based on a waveguide with volume grating providing feedback through second order Bragg diffraction were experimentally and theoretically investigated and optimized. The gratings are readily inscribed holographically in a layer of a dye-doped organic nanocomposite containing high refractive index inorganic nanoparticles. It is shown that the improvement of the parameters of waveguide and grating provides narrow-band lasing emission with a beam profile close to Gaussian intensity distribution.
