Abstract

This paper provides a discussion on the use and application of the current editions of the NESC (National Electrical Safety Code) (ANSI C2) [1] and NFPA 70E Electrical Safety in the Workplace. This paper discusses the concept of energized, bare conductors commonly used on electrical power systems and efforts used to protect the general public and employees through proper isolation and grounding. The use and adoption of the NESC and NFPA70E, in whole or in part, can be used in reducing electric injuries and fatalities from accidents involving electric power systems, especially on overhead power lines. This paper covers aspects of both codes and includes electric supply stations and safety for electrical workers and the general public.
