Abstract
The possibility of using dielectric material-based electromagnetic absorbers for EMI/EMC applications is presented in this paper. The proposed absorber is made up of neoprene rubber, polylactic acid and charcoal powder. The 3 layered absorber is developed by sandwiching a 3D printed PLA layer filled with charcoal powder in between two neoprene layers. The overall thickness of the absorber is 21mm and it can be metal-backed to employ for EMI/EMC applications. The proposed absorber has multiband absorption characteristics and is suitable for various S, C and X band applications. A comparative study on the effect of metal backing is also presented in this paper.
