Abstract

An analytical solution of the electrodynamics problem is presented for a rectangular waveguide with a dielectric plate located in the H-plane when longitudinal EM Y-polarization is used. Dispersion equations for E and H types of waves are obtained that allow one to determine the spectrum of critical wavelengths and the frequency dependence of the proper electrodynamics parameters. It is shown that during the transition of a fast wave to a slow wave, a transformation of the EM field is observed, in which the field in a less dense medium contracts to the surface of a denser medium, partially penetrating into it, which is of particular interest in microwave technology.
