Abstract
While statins were developed as drugs to suppress cholesterol synthesis, they also prevent vascular diseases as off-target effects. Numerous experimental and clinical studies have proven that statins could be beneficial for reducing ictogenesis and epileptogenesis. We aimed to summarize and elabo-rate on up-to-date evidence of the role of statins in epilepsy and consider the mechanisms responsi-ble for their beneficial effects.
