Abstract
A novel polarization conversion metasurface (PCM) is proposed to reduce the radar cross section (RCS). Two units with the same structure but different structure parameters are chosen. They have 180°±30° reflection phase differences. These two units and their mirror units are used to form a hybrid chessboard polarization metasurface (HPCM). Not only are the cross-polarization between the units and their mirror units cancelled, but the co-polarization between different units are also cancelled. The radar cross section reduction (RCSR) of 10 dB can be achieved in the 21.2GHz-33.9GHz frequency band. The designed metasurface can provide an efficient way to reduce the scattering of the electromagnetic waves in bandwidth.
