SAVING THE MEMORY OF A PLACE AS A PROCESS OF ADAPTATION OF OBJECTS

Abstract

Modern society has gradually come to understand the city as a multi-temporal ensemble with historical and cultural layers that create markers in the human mind. Historical and architectural heritage refers to those cultural values that contribute to the preservation of national identity and represent material evidence of the life and activities of people who lived before us. In order for the historical environment and buildings to be preserved, it is necessary to use them, which means to fill them with a new function, but how best to carry out reconstruction activities and not lose touch with the history of the place? Based on the examples, the difference in approaches to solving this issue is demonstrated. The methodology of the research is based on the following components: fixation of the problematic of the issue, historical and cultural and comparative analysis, the use of photographic materials allows us to illustrate the techniques and forms of preserving the memory of a place in various situational realities. The main conclusion is that the historical and cultural continuity of objects and environments is one of the main and fundamental conditions for the sustainable and successful development of urban planning and socio-cultural processes, including tourist attractiveness
