Abstract

Cable television companies, like traditional telephone companies, provide television, telephone, and internet access services to residential and business customers. In the case of cable companies, large volumes of customer premises equipment (CPE) connect individual residential and business premises to local distribution networks. CPE can include modems, gateways, and set top boxes, with large volumes of each model deployed. Typically, between 100,000 and 1,000,000 of each model are in service during full deployment.
