Abstract
The least time-maximum probability theory of lightning propagation shows that for every structure there is a safe and a lethal zone during a lightning storm. The LT-MP theory is the scientific basis for the existence of lightning protection zones (LPZ), and the existence of LPZs is the technical justification for designing lightning protection systems.
