The basis of the proposed compensating device is a wide-band damping filter, which provides attenuation of low-frequency non-characteristic harmonics and damping of the power system resonance modes in the range including frequencies of both characteristic and non-characteristic harmonics. Abstract

Multipulse rectifiers are typical nonlinear harmonic-producing loads of industrial power systems. An effective solution for power system harmonic mitigation in industrial systems are passive filters. But the use of conventional narrow-band filters can be difficult due to the parallel resonance caused single filter branches. This paper presents a new passive filtering system for power factor correction, current and voltage harmonic attenuation in industrial power supply systems with multi-pulse nonlinear loads.
