Recent research activities on photonic network technologies

Abstract

Recent activities on optical network R&D promoted by NICT will be reviewed. Topics include an optical packet network system, an ultra-fast optical communication system as well as advanced optical devices. Open laboratory, Japan giga-bit optical network (JGN-II), where industry, government and education are collaborating will also be presented.
