Abstract

The problem of diffraction of a plane wave on a metamaterial grating for two polarizations is solved in a rigorous mathematical formulation using the permutation duality principle. The main attention is paid to the study of plasmon-polariton resonances on the metasurfaces of the grating and to the elucidation of their role in the phenomena of total reflection and transmission of the wave for the E-polarized field.
