Abstract

End-to-end availability of an e-learning network connection topology is evaluated and compared between centralized server and decentralized server network architecture. The combination of Reliability Block Diagram (RBD) and the simplex three-state Continuous Time Markov Chain (CTMQ model was applied to evaluate overall system availability on the worse case condition. The simulation results showed interesting transient end-to-end availability characteristics where the decentralized architecture has higher availability than the centralized architecture.
