Delivering Digital Video Over IEEE 1394

Abstract

As computer and consumer electronics converge, a new digital interconnect capable of transporting real time digital video and audio as well as device command is needed. Industry standards and protocols for the various applications are vital to inter-operability amongst these devices. The combination of the IEEE 1394-1995 standard and the IEC 1883 specification lay the framework for digital video, audio and command transport. These standards and protocols are implemented as a combination of hardware and software in two novel integrated circuits’.
