Digital activity of industrial enterprises in the context of ensuring sustainable economic development of territories

Abstract

The relevance of the research is due to the fact that there is a lack of scientific knowledge in determining the relationship between digital transformation and sustainable development of territories, which will help to form a clearer picture of digitalization processes that contribute to stable economic development. Currently, the country's industrial economy is gradually moving to the knowledge economy, so one of the problems is the constant indication of digitalization processes with their correlation with the growth rates of key indicators of economic development, as well as the most effective management of domestic and foreign policies of industrial enterprises aimed at achieving specified production indicators. The purpose of this article is to identify the features and the relationship between the digital activity of industrial enterprises and sustainable economic development of territories. The leading approach to the research is a comprehensive, and the method is statistical and economic, which allows giving a comprehensive description of the digital activity of industrial enterprises in modern conditions. As a result of the analysis, the relationship between the digital activity of industrial enterprises and the sustainable economic development of territories has been identified and justified: the digital activity of industrial enterprises ensures the economic development of the country; investment is directly related to the rise in digital activity; the main obstacles to digitalization of enterprises are low readiness for integration of transformations, lack of sufficient budget and elaborated digital strategy in the development agenda; employees have insufficient digital competencies. The theoretical value of the article's materials lies in the fact that it deepen the knowledge of the features and connection of industry digitalization with the sustainable economic development of territories. In practice, the article's materials can be used in the development of analytical reports, as well as state and regional strategic programs.
