Abstract

Baseband signal generator (BSG) is widely used in many applications. This paper analyzes the features of baseband signal. The baseband signal can be divided into two categories. A structure is proposed to generate these two types of baseband signals. The key problems such as symbol mapping, shaping filtering, data interpolation are discussed in detail. A baseband signal generator with 80MHz bandwidth and 1ksym/s–80Msym/s symbol rate is designed based on the structure proposed, which can provide many baseband signals, such as ASK, PSK, DPSK, FSK, MSK, QAM, etc. At last, the performance of baseband signal generator is given to show the effectiveness of the design.
