Abstract
This study assessed the correlation between students' academic grade and first attempt performance in the medical technology licensure exam. The subject pool consisted of 39 first-time board exam takers who graduated from the School of Medical Technology, Emilio Aguinaldo College in the years 2007, 2008 and 2009. Test of Correlation statistics revealed that there was a significant association between academic grade and successful examinees' performance in the board exam. Whereas, a negative association was obtained in the group who failed in the licensure exam. The results in this study provide insights into the weak subject areas of students in the licensure exam that need reinforcement and emphasis in the academic setting. Thus, findings from this study provide opportunities for assessing the effectiveness of medical technology curricula. Keywords: licensure exam; Professional Regulation Commission (PRC)
