Abstract

More and more of the transmission lines in the developed countries have either reached their design lives or are approaching it. CIGRE 2000 Session, especially key presentations of CIGRE SC22 report session [1], [2], deal with the statistics of and the operational implications from these observations. The potential implications on the cost and reliability of transmission lines are severe. In the presentations and discussion of the panel session we expect to deal with the following general topics:
