Abstract

Some mass separating systems use ion optics with periodic supply voltage to separate ions for mass-to-charge ratio. The equation of motion should be linear to guarantee that there is no dependence of stability on initial conditions. To get mass spectrometer stability zone it is possible to overlay stability diagrams of all equations, which are Hill-type ones. Another way to solve this problem when ion equations are not separated is suggested.
