An analysis of film on CD ROM and the Waikato Polytechnic Information Kiosk

Abstract

The article explores the potential for CD ROM with the New Zealand short film 'Mirage' in terms of some of the strategies that have been developed in film criticism. This is not a definitive reading of the film but offers the user a deeper insight and shows the possibilities of this medium as a fresh approach in the way information is presented to assist in the education process. Interactive multimedia kiosks are becoming very popular in educational institutions and public facilities as a method of finding information. The paper also looks at a kiosk developed for The Waikato Polytechnic Marketing Section.
