Energy management controller/ Scheduler is a vital component of HEMS that carries all the computational intelligence required to compute optimized schedules for home appliance and local distributed energy resources. A comprehensive method to model energy management problem for the design of energy management controller/scheduler is elaborated. A Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) based optimization scheduler has been proposed. Application of scheduler to a smart home in Pakistan has been simulated.
