Global E-Government Trends and Developments: Who is Performing Well or Poorly? A Review of the Literature

Abstract

The purpose of this paper was twofold, (1) to explore how e-Government is currently performing from a global perspective, and (2) to discover which countries or regions are performing poorly in terms of e-Government initiatives. Therefore, this paper relied on a desktop research and a total of five global regions was studied. Consequently, in our exploration, the present study taught that global e-Government is currently performing well in that every region has seen some form of growth in the 2016 e-Government development rankings. However, despite this global mass growth, the present study taught that sustaining global e-Government projects remains a major challenge facing every region in the world.
