Abstract

By extending a frequency domain (FD) uniform asymptotic solution (FD-UAS), we derive a time-domain (TD) asymptotic-numerical solution (TD-ANS) for a transient scattered electric field when a modulated ultra-wideband (UWB) pulse wave excited by an electric line source is incident on a coated conducting cylinder covered with a thin lossy dielectric material. The TD-ANS is represented by a combination of the transient scattered electric field elements which consist of a geometric optical ray (DGO), a reflected GO, an extended uniform geometrical theory of diffraction (extended UTD) for a DGO and a pseudo surface diffracted ray (pseudo SD), a modified UTD for SD series, and a lowest order SD.
