Abstract

PMD generates random widening of the pulses in communications systems for standard single mode fibers. This randomness causes an inter-symbol interference problem in the signal detection. We propose a method to calculate the birefringence angle is traced by the axes of birefringence, by using a geometric tool important for engineering such as Mohr's circle. This angle will allow addressing the problem of concatenation to standard single mode fibers of large length, about the signal behavior of the fiber.
