Abstract

Diminution in conventional fuels likely petroleum and fossil fuel, global warming due to green house gas effusion and ozone layer degradation has led to shift in power generation from conventional to renewable source based generation. Further integration of power storage systems had led to emergence of Microgrid. DC Microgrid is preferably gaining popularity due to advancement in semiconductor devices and simpler configurable structure. This paper provides a comprehensive idea about DC Microgrid structure, control, protection and possible prospects to meet future expectations of the power system along with the inspiration that guided towards the study of DC Microgrid.
