GPS Navigation Requirements for Future Mobile Ground-Based Missile Systems

Abstract

At any given time there are several different missile systems under development. Each of these systems requires a guidance/navigation system. In the past, this requirement has been met through the use of inertial sensors. To meet future system requirements, it is envisioned that it will be necessary to incorporate GPS receivers on the launchers and into the missiles. The size, weight, power, performance, number of channels, and cost of these GPS receivers are critical. This paper will outline capabilities needed in future GPS receivers in order to meet envisioned US Army missile system requirements.
