Impactos econômicos da paralisação de parte da produção mineral em Minas Gerais decorrentes do desastre de barragem em Brumadinho

Abstract

In face of the losses generated by the Brumadinho Mining Disaster, occurred on January 25, 2019, this work aims to project the main economic impacts of the event. The results point to negative effects in several sectors of economic activity, both those directly related to the activity and indirectly, based on derived demands and the income generated by the payment of wages and salaries. The projections indicate a decrease in the GDP of the State of Minas Gerais due to the disaster in the order of -0.47% in the short term and -0.6% in the long term, in addition to the negative impacts on employment, household consumption and investment.
