The research of sustainability development status of Hunan province based on the modified human development index

Abstract

For the traditional human development index (HDI), it has some limitations such as the equal weights allocation in HDI and does not consider the depreciation of natural resources and its effects on environment. This paper modifies HDI by introducing environment indicators, so as to reflect the sustainability development requirements. Based on that, this paper calculates modified HDI of 12 regions in Hunan province.
