Review of the subtribe Erwinlindneriina (Diptera: Sarcophagidae: Sarcophaginae: Sarcophagini)

Abstract

Summary Short diagnoses are given of the almost endemic Afrotropical subtribe Erwinlindneriina [Beziella kadeisi (Salem 1938), known from the Middle East, is an exception], with the genera Beziella Enderlein (17 species; subgenera Bantumyia Verves & Khrokalo, n. subgen., Batissophalla Rohdendorf, Beziella s. str., Bilenemyia Verves, Brasia Strand, Callostuckenbergia Lehrer & Lehrer, Draculana Lehrer, Malawithyrsia Lehrer, and Palaeobrasia Verves & Khrokalo, n. subgen.) and Erwinlindneria Rohdendorf (14 species; subgenera Erwinlindneria s. str., Fanzidella Lehrer, Mitumbana Lehrer, Sarconimba Lehrer, Wittemyia Lehrer, Zumptisca Rohdendorf). Two new subgenera are described: Bantumyia Verves & Khrokalo, n. subgen. [includes type species Beziella (B.) erecta and B. (B.) galaniella] and Palaeobrasia Verves & Khrokalo, n. subgen. [includes type species B. (P.) kadeisi], as well as one new species, Erwinlindneria (Zumptisca) gashaka Verves & Khrokalo, n. sp.. One new species synonym [Fanzidella erzulia Lehrer, 2013, n. syn. of Erwinlindneria (Fanzidella) furcadorsalis (Rohdendorf, 1931)] and two new generic synonyms (Rossikenya Lehrer, 2009, n. syn. of Zumptisca Rohdendorf, 1963, and Nguyenia Lehrer, 2003, n. syn. of Malawithyrsia Lehrer, 1994) are proposed. Seven new combinations are proposed: Beziella (Bilenemyia) limpopoensis (Zumpt 1956), n. comb., B. (Callostuckenbergia) beninella (Lehrer, 2003), n. comb., B. (C.) limela (Lehrer & Lehrer, 1992), n. comb., B. (C.) rageaui (Rickenbach, 1966), n. comb., B. (Draculana) momba (Curran, 1934), n. comb., B. (Malawithyrsia) bulamatadi (Curran, 1934), n. comb., and B. (Malawithyrsia) oharai (Lehrer, 1994), n. comb.
