Reducing Authoring Costs of Online Training in Microelectronics Design by Reusing Design Documentation Content

Abstract

The authoring of online educational material for microelectronicsdesign is costly and requires expertise that the educators may nothave. In this paper, we address this issue - more specifically thecase of online training - and propose a technique to reduceauthoring costs by reusing the documentation content from a designdatabase. An extension for the design database model is presented,in order to comply to the LOM standard for learning objects, and acase study using a course creation tool is reported.
