Abstract
The organic system is an agricultural production methodology that does not require the use of chemical inputs and is characterized by a process that takes into account the soil, plant and environment relationship. The significant expansion of organic food consumption has stimulated the demand for studies on consumer behavior, aiming at their understanding, in order to direct the commercialization process and increase consumption. This study aimed to study the profile of consumers of organic foods via online questionnaire. An exploratory survey was conducted from a questionnaire containing 15 questions between multiple choice and open. The present study counted 59.2% of respondents being female and aged between 18 and 50 years. Regarding the educational level of the participating individuals, the largest group had postgraduate education (32.9%), compared to the monthly income of respondents 39.5% had income of 2 to 3 minimum wages. When asked about their level of knowledge about organic food 93.4% answered yes, you know what an organic product is and in relation to the main products consumed 57.9% said they were vegetables followed by fruits (35 , 5%) and organic eggs (6.6%). From the study, it is evident that there is an association between organic consumption and improvement in quality of life, in addition to the lack of knowledge among consumers about the possibilities of organic production, restricting them to crop production and as the mainlimiting consumption was identified the lack of availability of this product class in markets and small trades.
