Abstract
This paper presents the analysis for non-uniform Q-factor distributions in bandpass filter, particularly the case where the first and last resonators have reduced Q-factor compared with the rest of the resonators. It is shown that these have no effect on filter selectivity, only on overall loss. The theory is backed up with full-wave electromagnetic field simulation and measured data for a prototype filter.
