Abstract
Non-government sector evolved to take up certain tasks that were unaddressed due to government’s inability or budgetary constraints. With experts gathered from different sectors non-governmental organizations did wonderful deeds in development of Pakistan. Unfortunately, role of a few civil society organizations and international non-governmental organizations has spread confusion in Pakistani society that is fatal for workers who put their passion in development of local communities. Bureaucracy and corrupt practices of state departments also contributed to this atmosphere of distrust. Results of this anti-NGO wave will be regressive for the poor and marginalized ones. Any new project aiming at reducing miseries of the poor is unlikely at present. World community and international donors can clear clouds of confusion and distrust.
