An Overview of the SNAME Marine Forensics Committee and Panel

Abstract

The Marine Forensics Committee is twenty-five years old and has had a number of investigations of ship wrecks and losses to better understand the causes of maritime accidents using ROV’s. AUV’s, advancements in underwater electronics, flooding and sinking simulations as well as the development of procedures for a casualty investigation. Some of the highlights from the twenty-five years of research and investigation of historical ship losses will be summarized.
