Abstract

Since users tap several times to reach their targets on mobile applications, the user interface design tool provides a navigation controller to help them to navigate the content on mobile applications. This paper proposed an alternative quantitative metric to evaluate the navigation controller on mobile applications. It is a tapping effort. This metric considers the number of taps and the tapping position on a mobile screen. Experimenting with the Online Lesson Mobile Application, this quantitative evaluation provides valuable information for user interface designers to create proper navigation on mobile applications.
