Abstract
Composite materials are cutting edge materials designed to achieve use function, chemical, physical, mechanical, electrical, magnetic, thermal properties of the highest quality. Because of this, they have a wide use in various domains such as shipbuilding, automotive industry, aeronautics, sports equipment, electrical engineering and electronics, architectural design etc. This paper proposes the presentation of experimental results regarding the burning behavior and voltage impulses for some composite materials (Fireproof polypropylene, compact Polycarbonate, Polymetyl metacrylate-PMMA Plazcast) which have a wide use in architectural (interior or exterior) designs. Experimental determinations were made with high performance equipment (Fribourg Glow Wire Tester model 4150 and HILO TEST IPG 2025) owned by the specialized laboratories of the National Institute for Research and Development and Testing in Electrical Engineering (ICMET -Craiova). The results showed that the tested materials behaved well and comply with the international standards.
