Abstract
This paper describes alternative scalable radar architectures based on pseudo-random noise (PRN) sensing technique. These architectures can be implemented in standard Silicon-Germanium technology and are very suitable for highresolution automotive applications that require a high degree of reliability. The bandwidth required for the baseband blocks of the PRN radar systems can be reduced significantly using several methods introduced in this paper. Several single-channel transceivers are cascaded together to build a MIMO radar system with a flexible number of channels. The transceivers are equipped with binary phase-shift keying modulators and I/Q receiver. A large set of suitable pseudo-random binary sequences with different desirable properties is available.
