Abstract

A multiple-scattering method is formulated to calculate the backscattering from time-varying dielectric oceanic surface. The theoretical prediction is compared with the experimental data, and reasonably good agreement is obtained. Much attention is paid to discuss the amplitude distribution of the scattered field when the surface varies in a random way, and these theoretical results are compared with the classic distributions to find the best fitting.
