A possibility of solving the excitation problem by means of expanding the unknown fields in terms of waveguide eigen waves is discussed. Abstract

The paper analyzes the methods of determining the electromagnetic fields in waveguide-slot structures with dielectric insertions. In a rigorous formulation of the problem cases of single slots and multi-slot systems are analyzed.
