Abstract

This paper utilizes a recently developed frequency estimation algorithm [3] in identifying the scattering centers of a target as seen by stepped-frequency radar. This approach can be applied whether the recorded data is equally spaced (even with some missing) or not equally spaced. The technique is tested using two synthetic scattering models, then applied to real radar backscatter recorded in a compact range at high SNR. The results show that it is possible to extract relevant scattering information under various data scenarios.
