CERATOCISTO ODONTOGÊNICO EM REGIÃO DE CORPO MANDIBULAR: RELATO DE CASO CLÍNICO

Abstract

RESUMOO ceratocisto odontogênico consiste em uma patologia benigna atualmente classificada pela OMS como cisto odontogênico de desenvolvimento. Acredita-se que se desenvolve a partir de restos celulares da lâmina dentária acometendo, principalmente a região posterior de mandíbula. Seu aspecto agressivo e seu potencial de recidiva conferem a esse cisto a necessidade de tratamento adjacente das suas margens, além da enucleação.  O objetivo desse trabalho é relatar um caso de ceratocisto odontogênico em região de corpo mandibular de um paciente, sexo masculino de 45 anos. O tratamento cirúrgico estabelecido foi de enucleação da lesão e curetagem associada a ostectomia periférica das margens e o acompanhamento pós-operatório de seis meses não apresentou recidiva da lesão. O paciente foi orientando quanto a necessidade de acompanhamento radiográfico. A enucleação seguida de tratamento complementar do osso adjacente é um dos tratamentos indicados para lesões císticas recidivantes e se mostrou eficiente no caso relatado.Palavras-chave: Patologia bucal; Ceratocisto odontogênico; enucleaçãoABSTRACTOdontogenic keratocyst is a benign pathology currently classified by the WHO as a developmental odontogenic cyst. It is believed that it develops from dental lamina cell debris, affecting mainly the posterior mandible region. Its aggressive aspect and its recurrence potential give this cyst the need for adjacent treatment of its margins, besides enucleation. This paper aims to report a case of odontogenic keratocyst in the mandibular body region of a 45-year-old male patient. The surgical treatment established was lesion enucleation and curettage associated with peripheral osteotomy of the margins and the postoperative follow-up of six months showed no recurrence of the lesion. The patient was advised about the need for radiographic follow-up. Enucleation followed by complementary treatment of adjacent bone is one of the indicated treatments for relapsing cystic lesions and proved to be efficient in the reported case.Key Words: Odontogenic keratocyst; jaw
